Brian KellyLead Pastor I am so excited to be a part of what God is doing at Genesis Church. I can’t believe I have been serving in the church for over 26 years now. I was a horrible party-animal type until my conversion at nearly 31 years old. God got a hold of my life and he took my feet out of the miry clay and put them on The Rock – Hallelujah! I am from Iowa original but spent nearly 15 years in California before moving to Lakeland. You can find out more about me at www.drbriankelly.com if you are really interested. We are so blessed to have so many God-fearing and committed people as a part of our Genesis Family. We would love to have you be a part of it as well! |

Kayla McKnightAssociate Pastoral Co-Team Leader Hey everyone! My name is Kayla McKnight and I am originally from St.Petersburg Florida. I currently deal with the administrative side of things at Genesis; I am also on the Community Youth Coalition team and participating in all the planning and development of the ministry. My greatest passion in life is serving Jesus Christ and following his will where ever it guides me. In addition, I am a student at Southeastern University and plan to graduate in December 2011. Following school I hope to attend graduate school to obtain a masters in Licensed Mental Health Counseling. One of my hearts passions is to counsel and bring people to wholeness in Christ. For now, I am just looking forward to whatever God has planned for me following graduation. |

Lance HurstCo-Pastor My life has certainly been an interesting one thus far and I am excited to see where God takes me as I continue. I am originally from the the small town of Jasper, Florida up by Georgia, but I was also an air force brat and as a result, I was given the privilege of going to middle school and high school in England! God has been so merciful to me and he has definitely shown me such love, because he is love. I love getting to know people and their stories. And the most beautiful part of stories is how God’s story continually breaks into our story. This is the story that I want to share: the story of how love came down to earth in the form of Jesus and changed everything. One of the best parts of being a part of Genesis Church is that I get the opportunity to work alongside of my spiritual family and share this story and take part in this story everyday.

Heather JohnsonYouth PastorHello, my name is Heather Johnson and I am the youth pastor at Genesis Church. I will graduate from Southeastern University in December 2011 with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a double minor in youth and missions. Having a relationship with Jesus Christ has changed my life. He has proved himself faithful time and time again and it is only because of Christ and the Holy Spirit that I am able to walk out the things He has called me to do. Over the years that Lord has really given me a burden for youth. I am passionate about seeing them encounter the Almighty God and live a life worthy of the calling God has for them. There is nothing like witnessing young men and women grasping hold of how wide, how long, how high and how deep the Lord’s love is for them. When the youth of today truly come to an understanding of who Christ is and all that He has for them, there will be no stopping them. I am excited to live life along side these teens and see all that the Lord does in and through them. |

Katie MaurerChildren’s Pastor Hello, I’m Katie Maurer nice to meet you! I have recently undertaken the position of “Children’s Pastor” here at Genesis Church and I am excited to see what God has in store for our children! I am entering my Senior year at Southeastern University, seeking after a degree in Secondary Social Sciences (which is a fancy name for teaching History at a High School level).I’m what I would call a country girl with an urban heart. I am from a small town in Ohio, where everybody knows everybody. So, I value that intimate-relationship setting, which I want to mirror in my Pioneer Club meetings. In my small town church I was forced into Children’s Ministry as no one else wanted to fill the position. Quickly, God equipped me for this ministry and my experience helped me to develop a passion for children. Here at Genesis Church, it is my goal to allow God to use me as his vessel to lay the ground work for this ministry and to sow God’s love into each child that crosses the threshold into our ministry. It is my heart to see these children communicating their faith with their friends. I want to be a part of your child’s life and to help them develop into the “oaks of righteousness” God has called us to be. The influence and connection of Pioneer Club will not end at 8:15 every Wednesday night; your child will take with them core values and messages that will equip them for the road ahead. I want to be a part of my club member’s lives: their encourager, their tutorer, their fan club, their friend, or whatever position they need filled. I want to do life together.

My passions in life include music, different cultures,Tae Kwon Do, Evangelism, Worship, and Missions. I wish to see the whole world saved and wish all would have knowledge and understanding of Grace and God’s love. My heart is for a reconstruction of “The Church” and to build it back up to the New Testament standards. I love bright colors, family dinners, hanging out, playing games, and most of all laughing!! |
