The name’s Katie Maurer nice to meet you! I have recently undertaken the position of “Children’s Pastor” here at Genesis Church and I am excited to see what God has in store for our children! I am entering my Junior year at Southeastern University, seeking after a degree in Secondary Social Sciences (which is a fancy name for teaching History at a High School level).I’m what I would call a country girl with an urban heart. I am from a small town in Ohio, where everybody knows everybody. So, I value that intimate-relationship setting, which I want to mirror in my Pioneer Club meetings. In my small town church I was forced into Children’s Ministry as no one else wanted to fill the position. Quickly, God equipped me for this ministry and my experience helped me to develop a passion for children. Here at Genesis Church, it is my goal to allow God to use me as his vessel to lay the ground work for this ministry and to sow God’s love into each child that crosses the threshold into our ministry. It is my heart to see these children communicating their faith with their friends. I want to be a part of your child’s life and to help them develop into the “oaks of righteousness” God has called us to be. The influence and connection of Pioneer Club will not end at 8:15 every Wednesday night; your child will take with them core values and messages that will equip them for the road ahead. I want to be a part of my club member’s lives: their encourager, their tutorer, their fan club, their friend, or whatever position they need filled. I want to do life together.

Hey! My name is Lance Hurst and I am super excited about working with the kids that come through the doors of Genesis Church! I am originally from the small town of Jasper, Florida, which is about 15 minutes away from Georgia. As a result, I tend the spew out words with a southern twang at times. But I am also a military kid, which took me from small-town Jasper to Tampa, then to Norfolk, Virginia, and Lakenheath, England! As a result, I am a mix of different cultures, but each day I am learning to live in the culture of the Kingdom of GOD. It is a beautiful journey that has brought me from being a quiet, shy boy to a young man who is allowing God to make me into a gentle, bold minister of the good news of Jesus the Messiah. God has given me leadership opportunities in ministry since I was a junior in high school that range from being a student leader in my youth group to being the intern at Genesis Church. While being the intern and working with the kids here, I desire to see these kids feel the big squeeze of God’s love and know that there is nothing greater this love. Your child can experience this great love, be transformed forevermore, and become a child of the greatest Father—God Himself.

Hello! My name is Amanda Furmage and I am a sophomore at Southeastern University majoring in Journalism/Public Relations with minors in English and creative writing. Throughout my entire life I have lived in the small town of Conneaut, Ohio and thoroughly enjoyed my first year in Lakeland, Florida. At the age of 16, I met my savior, Jesus Christ and within the same month, my entire immediate family gave their lives to Christ. Although I don’t have much background in ministry, I have a deep desire for each child to experience the depths of God’s love. In addition, I am excited to watch these boys and girls devote themselves to the study of God’s word and become the light that is much needed within their school and community.

Hi! My name is Mrs. Kelly. My husband and I have been blessed to serve as the lead pastors of Genesis Church since September, 2009. In addition, I am a mother of 2 great kids, a professor at Southeastern University in Lakeland, and a psychologist. My passion is teaching, especially where the word of God is integrated with everyday matters, like raising children, strengthening marriage, and finding one’s identity and calling. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, gardening, and playing good-old-fashioned board games! Mostly, I try to keep my home organized, my college students engaged, and my church family supported. It is a lot to juggle, but is exactly where God has placed me!
